We had a good day filled with progress, hope ministry and electrical frustrations!
First to the progress. Each day here @ CFA is filled with excitement. You never know what you are going to face or who you are going to meet or who might be calling or who will send a gift in the mail. Work continues on the rebuilding project for our flooded out facility. There were men working on getting up all the old tile floors. We had workers on the demo/scrap metal crew. We had volunteers cleaning certain areas of our facility. We had members of the architects office measuring out the two older buildings getting ready for a new look and design. Yesterday we had a worker from Terminix treating the entire facility for termites...read my previous post discovery! All in all, a good day of forward progress. Lord, thank for the things that were accomplished today!
Next to the HOPE ministry. This daily ministry continues to amaze me. I am forever reminded that God is the initiator of this outreach and benevolence ministry. He started it and He is sustaining it. He has provided the supplies and the goods. Just today we were getting rather low in our food pantry when the next time I had looked the shelves were full again. Amazing! The food goes out and then the food is replenished. The scriptural promise is for real: "Give and it shall be given unto you!" Food, clothing, shoes, water, cleaning supplies, toiletries and other items are wheeled out by our "take out" crew. My boys are really enjoying this ministry and supporting it eagerly. Prayer is being offered somewhere on our church grounds for hosts of people. Everyone is enthused with the prospects of HOPE and possible salvation contacts. We are expectantly enlarging our harvest here in Columbus!
Now to my electrical frustrations. It was one of those circuit breaker days! You know...I've written about it before. Today it happened all over again. I must have reset it about 20 times, plus others were helping too. I would be in the middle of a conversation on the phone when the power was tripped and the phones went dead. Power in the "command center" flickered on and off and I knew what was coming next....silence! Kristy and I were getting quite flustered in there...well, at least I know I was!! She said, "Pastor, take a deep breathe!" Believe me I tried. I guess that comes with the territory of a flooded out church and our "command center" is literally run by extension cords!!! Two thirds of our complex is without power...and everybody is vying for that available power plug in the new wing. Lord, looks like I'm gonna need a bit more patience in dealing with these issues for many months to come...please help me!
Today I'm needing some of words of encouragement. You can post them below using the "comment" feature or you can email them to me using the "envelope" email feature below too. Either way, please send them. We are past the 30 day mark in post-flood disaster trauma and it is wearing on us. We are desperately needing financial contributions to our flood fund and that has been quiet lately too. Your words of inspiration and gifts will go a long way! Lord, please send your messengers of encouragement my way these next 24 hours!!
Hope to take some time out of my day tomorrow to get away from the constant emotional drain of leading our outreach efforts, rebuilding projects, pastoring a church, leading our services, preaching messages, looking out for the scattered sheep, etc....you get the picture.
Love to all!

Yes, you need to get away and take a break. You need to take care of yourself, so you can help others!
Your friends in Attica are still praying for you! We still are planning on a team coming and helping, soon.
Here are some perfect words of encrouagement for you:
2 Corinthians 1:3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Hey Don! This is quite a surprise! I was searching around on Sharon's site and noticed Pastor Anreason and thought of you. Stan and I have been back in Virginia Beach for 3 1/2 yrs after being away for 10. He is working on Doctor of Ministry and working as Chaplain until he finishes in a year. After that we are not sure. We needed a break from the pastorate. Check out my site www.mentoringwomeninministry.com and www.mentoringwomeninministry.blogspot.com. Looks things are going great for you and your family.
Sending up a special prayer for you tonight.

Pastor, I'm sure you are feeling totally overwhelmed right now with the rebuilding of the church, Hope outreach center, plus not to mention all the normal "Pastor duties" the many hats you wear, Preacher, teacher, husband, father, friend, councellor, prayer partner, encourager. I'm sure I have forgotten many. I received my encouraging word/lesson for the day. "Thoughtfulness". You are the first one that came to my mind. All the love and encouragement you show daily, even if you are tired and don't have the energy to go on. I know your daily strength is not that of your own, but of the Holy Spirt. Thank you!!! How true the verse is in this lesson Philippians 2:3. Of everything that is going on in our lives, you have shown the true thoughtfulness in all of this "blessing" (flood). As you stated in your interview with channel 8, yes we could be having a poor pittiful me party, but instead, you are more concerned and stressing that to your flock on "enlarging the harvest" having geniune concern, love, but most of for their souls.
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in
lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself (Philippians 2:3 NKJV)
Lets all Think of a way to be a blessing! Let's do what Paul encouraged Christians in Asia to do: let's be kind and tenderhearted toward one another (Ephesians 4:32). Think of a way
to be a blessing to someone today, this week, next week. They'll enjoy what you did, but
even more, they'll be blessed to know that you were thinking of them. Let's continue to give them HOPE! But most of all let us continue to give our God appointed leader HOPE and encouragement. God Bless Pastor, we all love you!
Hi Pastor,
You're a natural in front of the camera!
It was so moving to view the TV report by News 8 and hear the wonderful words that you & Pastor Joel said.
You certainly conveyed that this all about glorifying God & not being focused on our own self-reliance and personal kindness.
You are letting it be known that your eyes are on the Lord and that He is using you, Pastor Joel, and our entire church to spread the Gospel and to be the hands & feet of Jesus in showing love to those in need.
I hope you get lots of rest and take some time for yourself and your wonderful family & I hope Pastor Joel does the same.
God bless you & keep you & give you patience when the electricity fails!
Lots of love,
Rosalinda
