Have you ever heard of Bats in the Belfry? Bats are those erratically flying mammals and belfries are the bell towers, sometimes found at the top of a bell tower on a church, where the bell is placed.
We experienced here @ CFA something of a different nature...raccoons!!! And these coons weren't in our belfry either...they were in our church attic. In fact, these little critters had made quite a mansion of a home in our spacious and sprawling attic. We believe they had been residing up there for the better part of a year.
Well, when Rocky clawed and chopped his way through the ceiling in the hallway (literally!)...we knew it was time to act...and act fast! We called the Animal Control in our city and they brought over one of their cage traps and some bait food (cat food no less!). Guess what? Rocky and his family (or his friends) were extremely smart. Somehow they were able to get inside the trap, grab the food and get out of Dodge! They did this for about 4 or 5 times...simply wearing out the Animal Control officer. Would you believe they came to expect our call every morning?
First we caught Rocky and a week later we caught Rachel (I'll give her this name because I assumed she was female...small and petite!). I think they were just glad to finally be caught and then released out into the country. You don't think they are built with a GPS device in their brains, do you? I'm not looking for them to return any time soon!!
The opening was closed up on the soffit underneath the roof...thanks to Ted, our handyman. Plus the hole in the ceiling was repaired by Kevin, our janitor. Thanks guys for your help!
My son in High School recently played in a special event at his school to raise funds for their band program. We attended this function and was very proud of his accomplishments. Devon has grown tremendously with his saxophone since starting before the sixth grade.
This coming Sunday begins our WINTER REVIVAL with Evangelist Jimmy Russell. Looking forward to these special services. In fact, why not come and join us!
Service schedule is Sunday @ 10 am and 6 pm. Monday and Tuesday nights @ 7 pm!
Come on, let's "Make it Count!"
