It's hard to believe that it's been over 4 months since my last blog posting.  Time to catch everyone up on some family and ministry activity.  Let me start with the events most recent and work backward:

  • We conducted our first World Missions Convention here at O'Fallon Assembly.  Five missionary families came to inspire, motivate, encourage and inform our congregation about the area of missionary work that they are involved in.  The missions banquet on Saturday night was full and exciting.  The goals we established for the convention were met and exceeded!
  • We launched our Harvest Festival children's outreach in the middle of missions week.  There were about 300 that gathered for this ministry event on October 31st.  Missionary Jamie Kemp shared his story with the kids and introduced them to Jesus Christ.  Great night of team building among O'Fallon Assembly families.  Lots of activity, hard work and amazing fellowship as we worked side by side to reach the families of our community with the love of Christ!
  • Tammy, Ashlyn and I took a quick trip to visit our two sons down in Springfield, Missouri.  We were able to watch Trenton play in a soccer game for Central Bible College (plus they won too!) and also attended the Evangel University Homecoming Game where Devon marched with the Marching Band!  We are so proud of our children!
  • On September 9th we welcomed Phil & Kendra Stacey to OAG.  Phil was catapulted to national recognition through the American Idol competition on Season 6.  Phil possesses a great heart and also a great spirit for ministry as he led us in a powerful night of concert ministry!
  • Our church entered two teams in a local Church Volleyball League.  Thursday nights are volleyball league and we experienced some great times of fellowship (and competition) together!
  • We coordinated our third Servolution Outreach event into our community on September 29th.  Five different teams were dispatched throughout the city in spreading the love of Jesus through a variety of compassionate ministry events.  This event grows every time that we hold a church-wide Servolution!
  • Our Encounter Student Ministry took a large group of students (including Devon & Ashlyn & Tammy) to Louisville, Kentucky for the National Fine Arts Festival.  One of our students, Danielle Huver, took the National Merit Award for her entry in the Two-Dimensional Visual Art category.  Congratulations Dani!
We are getting closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas...busy times for family and friends!

If you are ever in the O'Fallon/St. Louis area please stop by to attend one of our exciting worship experiences!  We would love to meet up with you!

Summer Months

HOT!  We are in the midst of some hot summer months.  Lots has gone by since my last blog post.  Let me catch you up...

  • Easter Sunday Weekend.  Great outreach ministry on Saturday with our Egg Hunt event and two exciting services on Easter Sunday!  This was the first Sunday we revealed all the changes in our Renovation Campaign project.
  • Servolution Saturday.  We hosted our second community event with five focuses of ministry.  It affords us the opportunity to share and show the love of Jesus with tangible acts of kindness to the people in our area!  We almost hit 100 servolutionaries on that day...awesome!
  • Mother & Daughter Tea.  Our sanctuary was transformed into an amazing round-table setting and was filled up with mothers, daughters and friends.
  • Graduation.  We celebrated the high school graduation of our third son, Devon.  He is set to begin his college education this fall at Evangel University.
  • Family Vacation.  We packed up the van and headed out for our family vacation the end of May.  Loved having everyone together and visiting some spectacular locations too!
  • Weddings.  It was an honor to officiate in two weddings this summer.  The joy of witnessing the two lives becoming one in Jesus Christ!
  • Softball Team.  We had a tough men's softball team season this year.  However, our team is on a roll and knocked off the #1 team last night.  They continue playing in the playoffs as long as they keep winning!

The first quarter of 2012 has been a blurr....lots of great ministry activity...plus the renovation project for the foyer and halls is almost finished!

Last night our Fine Arts Students shared their ministry presentations with us...WOW!! O'Fallon Assembly has long been a strong proponent for students discovering and using their spiritual gifts. During the Fine Arts Showcase last evening our students were involved in:
  • Human Video
  • Sign Language Solos
  • Female Vocal Solo
  • Vocal Duet
  • Saxophone solo
  • Short Sermon
  • Song Writing
  • Percussion
  • Worship Team
  • Art
  • Poetry

We are proud of all of our Encounter Students! They did such a fantastic job. Many of them will be advancing to the National Finals in Louisville, Kentucky in early August.

LIFE Groups started in the month of February and will have four meetings in the first semester of 2012. Eight groups have formed and encompass the entire church fellowship! Great times of relationship building, group discussion, fellowship and interaction.

The New Members Class was initiated in early January and concluded the second week of February. We recently brought in a large group of new members here @ O'Fallon Assembly. Each new member comes with many wonderful spiritual gifts to be used in advancing the Kingdom of God in our community, county, state and world!

Recently we were privileged to have Howard & Margie Cummings as our pulpit guests. They served for over 27 years as Lead Pastors of Aurora First Assembly in Aurora, Colorado. Currently, Howard is the President of Global Mandate, a missions consulting and speaking service. We enjoyed a wonderful time of ministry and fellowship with this gracious couple!

There are less than two weeks left till the greatest event in Christianity: the Resurrection! We are planning a great Easter Weekend with lots of prayer, outreach and victorious ministry!

Let me invite you to attend one of our worship experiences. We would love to have you join us. Plus, I would love the chance to meet you!

Love to all!
